Our daughter has been attending The Playroom for just over a year now. During this time we have been nothing but happy with the care Lucy and her team provide and we have noticed many positive leaps in her development and confidence.
We are always filled with confidence when leaving our daughter in the care of the team at The Playroom, we are greeted with happy, smiley faces every morning and are always given a full debrief at the end of each day. All of the staff are extremely informative and helpful and always make time to chat with us.
We love to see updates coming through via the babydays app, we are so grateful that we get to have a good insight into what she is up to / learning about each day and it’s lovely to see all the great resources she has access to. We love that the children are encouraged to learn about and celebrate all occasions, holidays and festivals. She was lucky enough to go on a pumpkin picking trip around Halloween time last year, this isn’t something we expected to see from a smaller childcare setting, we were pleasantly surprised.

ABOUT US
Our childminding setting truly encapsulates the best of both worlds when it comes to childcare, bringing together the best attributes from a nursery setting into a home setting. We have a team of highly skilled experienced staff who have dedicated their working life to childcare with a combined over 60 years in the early years.
We offer a very personal service to ensure every child feels seen, secure and confident giving them the best start to life.
From the very beginning meeting the childrens' needs has been our ultimate priority.
Over the last 4 years we have made many changes incorporating ideas from the Curiosity Approach, Montessori demonstrating our commitment to improve.
Each childs' learning and development is tracked on our app, here we share photographs, observation with our parents linking them to the EYFS and detailing how we can assist them in fulfilling their next steps, we hold a key worker system. This is based on the childs choice as the children to begin to settle in we observe who they naturally gravitate towards and ultimately their key worker is selected.
Innovation is our speciality we consistently provide new and innovative invitations to play, our highly engaging invitations to play have been recognised by a large early years resource company on Instagram, which means we have been privileged to obtain some amazing resources for the children free of charge in the exchange that we continue to share our work and include them.

ARE STAFF FIRST AID TRAINED?
Yes, all staff have successfully completed Level 3 Paediatric First Aid, this is refreshed every 3 years.
MY CHILD HAS SPECIAL DIETARY REQUIREMENTS, CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE THIS?
Yes, all meals are prepared and cooked on site with special consideration of all children’s dietary needs whether that be for a medical need or choice.
WHAT IS THE RATIO OF STAFF TO CHILDREN?
As we are registered as childminders we operate on a ratio of 1 adult to every 3 children. This ratio is one of the many benefits of our setting it does not change regardless of age -meaning our children receive more care and attention than a nursery setting.
MEET THE TEAM
LUCY
I’m Lucy the owner and manager here at The Playroom. I have over 20 years experience of working within the early years from children’s centres, family support, private nurseries to now running my own setting.
I hold a level 5 qualification in early years education, level 1 in BSL and full SENCO training.
I have lived in Marple my entire life and have taken care of so many children in this lovely close community. I have 3 boys Max, Eric and Oscar who keep me very busy in my home life and occasionally offer a helping hand at The Playroom.
